BOSTON HOUSE
BOSTON HOUSE
When the clients purchased this 1960s architect designed property, their vision was to extend and modernise in a sympathetic style, capturing the features of the original dwelling. With careful consideration of the existing aesthetic and a radical approach to the layout of spaces, a stunning final design was achieved. The finished home benefits from a two-storey side and large rear extension, maximising the property's full potential.
The use of black stained larch vertical cladding and a metal standing seam roof both reference the old house, whilst giving a fresh new contemporary style. A modern slatted pergola structure over the patio area enhances the transition to the garden, creating a seamless, Mediterranean inside/outside feel.

“We were delighted to have secured a house in the location we'd been wanting for many years. The property, however, hadn't had much of an update in the 60 plus years since it had been built and we weren’t sure where to begin. We loved the original design and wanted to keep the spirit of the mid-century modern home that we loved whilst thoroughly modernising it.
Howard understood and interpreted our not very well articulated brief and came up with a stunning design which we loved from day one. He then helped us through the tender and selection process and worked super effectively as the link between us and the builder. He also helped us to tweak ideas as the build progressed and came up with some inspirational design ideas which we adopted.
We honestly think that Howard's care and attention and listening skills made the dream come alive. We simply love our new house and are thankful that we chose him as our Architect and guide.”
